Cindy B. Taffel
Age:
44
Home town:
Pompano Beach, FL
Occupation:
Firefighter
Past history of sports participation :
Started out as a swimmer. Competed in Powerlifting-broke teenage records. Bodybuilding, Triathlons, but best in Cycling.
Primary athletic focus currently:
Now my focus is shedding the 25lbs I gained during Chemotherapy. Interested in getting back into Cycling and participating in various StairClimbs.
Favorite training or racing experiences:
The most fun I ever had training was on the bike. Really enjoyed long distance cycling.
Races/events completed this year:
This year the only competition was in chemo to see who went to the bathroom the most times in one treatment.
Favorite race/s:
no races this year, but she beat cancer!
Personal records/Best races:
The last century I did with my pal Robert Jolly when I lost him when I hit a steady 26mph with some cyclist I met up with during the ride. Chemo cloud prevents me from remembering the name of the ride. My personal best was way back in my teens when I Bench Pressed 225lbs. All Natural. Believe me I wanted to do Steroids but I never ever did. Personal Best in cycling had to be riding with the A1A "A" group. Chemo cloud prevents me from remembering the name of the ride.
Athletic achievement/s you are most proud of:
Breaking a Teenage World Record in Powerlifting.
Goals for the coming year/season:
This coming year I plan on losing 25lbs and completing a StairClimb event ( if I can find one in the latter part of this year). I'd also like to get back on A1A and ride with any of my pals from the Boca Raton Cycling Club. Oh yeah, I plan on staying in Remission as long as possible.
Races you are planning on next season:
Next Year, the Wachovia StairClimb in full Firefighter gear.
Favorite racing and/or training tip-it does not have to be one that I gave you! ::
Obey the Coach. Shut up and ride.
Additional comments/info:
Dara was and is the best coach I've ever encountered. (I received no compensation for the statement I just made).
